What Is A Hairball?
Hairballs happen when your cat ingests fur while they’re grooming themselves. If you’ve ever been licked by a cat, you’ll know how scratchy that tongue is! It’s covered in many small spines (the technical term is papillae) that essentially function as hooks. So the tongue can lift dead or loose fur when your puss is having a grooming sesh.
You might eventually see this fur again…in their litter tray. However, if your cat ingests too much floof which can’t be digested, regurgitating is the only way to shift it.
